Overview
Skyline Queenstown's gondola climbs 450 metres up Bob's Peak in around four minutes, one of the steepest ascents of its kind anywhere in the world. From the summit station, the view stretches down Lake Wakatipu toward the jagged Remarkables range — regularly cited as one of New Zealand's classic viewpoints.
As with its sibling operation in Rotorua, the summit complex is built around a luge track — small gravity karts on a purpose-built concrete course — alongside a restaurant, stargazing sessions and access to mountain bike trails descending back to town.
Things To Do
- Gondola ride — a steep four-minute climb up Bob's Peak with views over Lake Wakatipu opening up as you ascend.
- Luge rides — gravity karts down concrete tracks of varying difficulty, ridden as many times as your pass allows.
- Stargazing — evening astronomy sessions taking advantage of Queenstown's dark, clear mountain air.
- Mountain biking — dedicated downhill trails from the summit back into town.
- Kiwi Birdlife Park — a nearby native bird sanctuary often combined with a gondola visit.
