Overview
The Rere Rockslide is exactly what it sounds like: a wide, gently sloping rock shelf in the Rere Stream that the water has polished smooth over time, creating a natural waterslide about 60 metres long. Locals and visitors slide down on boogie boards, inflatable tubes or simply on their backs, then walk back up to do it again.
It's a low-key, free attraction — no tickets, no operator, just a grassy reserve, a picnic area and a stream. A short drive further upstream, the Rere Falls offer a different way to enjoy the same waterway, with a swimming hole at the base of a wide curtain waterfall.
Things To Do
- Slide the rockslide — bring a boogie board or inflatable tube and slide down the smoothed rock shelf.
- Rere Falls — a wide curtain waterfall a short drive upstream, with a swimming hole at its base.
- Picnic reserve — grassy riverside area with tables, ideal for a full afternoon out.
- Swimming — the pools at the base of the slide and falls are popular for a summer dip.
- Photography — the wide, gently curving rock shelf makes for distinctive wide shots.
